NPI Installs Five Sortation Systems Nationwide Within 14 Weeks

FORT WORTH, TX – NPI, a leading provider of advanced parcel sortation solutions, is proud to announce the installation of five state-of-the-art sortation systems across DHL, OnTrac, and Veho facilities nationwide. These accurate automated systems are designed to support each company’s growing parcel handling needs with unmatched speed and precision, especially during peak seasons. The installations not only demonstrate NPI’s commitment to high-performance technology but also its robust and ongoing partnerships with these major logistics providers.

The new sortation systems is engineered for high throughput, with the Xstream dual-lane sorters capable of sorting up to 24,000 parcels per hour and the Xstream Compact capable of sorting up to 10,000 parcels per hour, providing significant advantages in speed and efficiency. These systems enhance capabilities across each facility to meet the ever-increasing demands of e-commerce and shipping. The sorters are specifically engineered to ensure fast and accurate parcel handling, minimal downtime, and adaptability to operational needs, making them ideal for the demands of fast-paced logistics environments. The systems were installed in the following locations:

  • DHL:
    • Denver, CO: A dual-lane NPI Xstream sorter featuring 60 outputs and operational since September 22, 2024.
    • Boston, MA: Another high-performance dual-lane NPI Xstream sorter with 84 outputs, installed and operational as of October 21, 2024.
    • Seattle, WA: The latest installation, a dual-lane NPI Xstream system with 64 outputs, was completed on November 4, 2024, enhancing parcel sortation capabilities and throughput rates.
  • OnTrac:
    • Woodridge, IL: A dual-lane NPI Xstream sorter featuring 52 destinations. This installation utilizes NPI’s convertible chutes, which allow OnTrac to swap between sorting parcels to large Gaylord containers or mail sacks. Fully operational on July 29, 2024.
  • Veho:

All five facilities are equipped with the latest iteration of NPI’s sortation technology, representing upgrades to the advanced Gen 3 system. This strategic enhancement improves parcel throughput and reduces the need for manual intervention, making these installations valuable additions to each company’s critical operations.

Leveraging Duravant ONSIGHT Cloud Analytics for Superior System Performance Monitoring

To maximize operational insights and efficiency, each system integrates seamlessly with Duravant’s ONSIGHT cloud analytics software. This advanced tool empowers logistics representatives at DHL, OnTrac, and Veho to monitor real-time performance metrics across facilities. ONSIGHT enables performance tracking at multiple levels: by facility, by sortation system, and even by each side of each system. The ONSIGHT interface provides intuitive, visual dashboards that detail parcel weights, dimensions, throughput rates, and up to 30 days of parcel data, allowing personnel to monitor the performance of their operations from anywhere, at any time. Additionally, this analytics capability facilitates streamlined decision-making, particularly during high-demand periods such as the holiday season.

Enhanced Sortation Capabilities for Growing Demands

NPI’s sortation systems provide companies with versatile and scalable solutions for parcel handling. Designed with peak season demands in mind, these systems offer significant advantages in efficiency and reliability. Key features and benefits include:

  • High Throughput: The Xstream’s dual-lane design accomplishes a throughput rate of up to 24,000 parcels per hour, ensuring that high volumes of packages are sorted quickly and accurately.
  • Compact Footprint: The Xstream Compact’s design utilizes as little as 2,500 sqft of floorspace and sorts up to 10,000 parcels per hour.
  • Multi-Destination Flexibility: Each system features a high number of parcel destinations—48 in Denver, 70 in Boston, 62 in Seattle, 52 in Woodridge, and 32 at Veho—allowing for precise sortation and destination flexibility, essential for rapid sorting to various distribution channels.
  • 99% Uptime: NPI’s Xstream systems feature anti-jam technology and are supported by our Lifecycle Services team, ensuring continuous operation even at peak times.
  • Versatile & Scalable: The modular design of the Xstream systems allows customers to add additional destinations to the system as their operational requirements increase.
  • Rapid Installation: NPI systems are pre-assembled and pre-wired at NPI’s manufacturing facility, enabling industry-leading installation times in as little as five weeks.

A Continued Partnership to Drive Logistics Innovation

NPI’s partnerships highlight the shared dedication to innovation and operational excellence. By investing in advanced systems that streamline parcel handling and enhance customer service levels, these companies reinforce their commitment to fast, reliable delivery times, even as order volumes peak.
